Recommended scenarios

Best for one dependable point-to-point HDMI link.

4KEX70-L is designed to move one HDMI source to one remote display over a dedicated category cable, while also carrying embedded audio and selected control signals.

Meeting rooms

Source rack to projector or room display

Place the PC, media player or AV receiver at the equipment end and carry the presentation to a display up to 40m at 4K60 4:2:0 or 70m at 1080p60 using Cat6a/Cat7.

Education

Lectern or control desk to front display

A practical wired link for classrooms and training rooms where the source is away from the projector. Bidirectional IR or RS232 can support suitable room-control arrangements.

Retail & signage

Player to a single remote screen

Carry digital menus, promotions or informational content from a protected equipment location to one display. For multiple screens, add the correct distribution architecture rather than splitting the HDBT link.

Hospitality

Control room to bar or restaurant TV

Use existing structured cabling where it meets the required category, length and termination standard. The included IR parts can return compatible remote-control commands.

Home cinema

Equipment cabinet to television

Useful where the set-top box, console or player is stored away from the screen. Choose it only when audio return is not needed—4KEX70-L does not support ARC or eARC.

Monitoring

NVR, PC or controller to one remote monitor

A direct wired option for a basic CCTV or control-room display path when 1080p/4K timing, HDCP, cable distance and control requirements match this model.

Choose 4KEX70-L when

  • You need one HDMI source connected to one remote HDMI display.
  • Your target is up to 4K@60Hz 4:2:0 8-bit at 40m, or 1080p@60Hz at 70m, using Cat6a/Cat7.

A quick final checklist.

Confirm these points before installing the cable.

Your source has HDMI output

Set it to 4K@60Hz 4:2:0, 4K@30Hz or 1080p according to your display and cable distance.

You are connecting one display

4KEX70-L is a one-source, one-display extender kit.

The Cat cable is within range

Measure the complete routed length, including service loops and short patch cables.

The cable is wired T568B

Both ends must use the same straight-through T568B pattern. Test the cable before final installation.

No network switch is in the path

HDBT Out must connect directly to HDBT In. Do not use a router, LAN switch, PoE switch or injector.

You do not need ARC or USB

Choose another model if the television must return sound or if you need a remote keyboard, mouse or webcam.

Inside the box

Installation guidance

Bench-test the exact signal before the final cable pull.

Use the real source, display, HDMI leads and intended category cable. A successful short-cable test does not prove that an installed route at the maximum length will pass the same 4K format.

01

Set the target mode

Confirm the source can output a supported format—up to 4K60 4:2:0 8-bit or 1080p60—and verify it directly with the display.

02

Prepare the category run

Terminate the dedicated cable straight-through T568B at both ends. Check wire-map, length, damage and every patch point.

03

Connect TX and RX

HDMI source goes to the transmitter; HDBT Out runs directly to HDBT In; receiver HDMI Out goes to the display.

04

Choose the power end

Connect the supplied 18V/1A adapter to either TX or RX. Bidirectional power energises the matched unit at the opposite end.

05

Add control signals

For IR, connect receiver to IR In and emitter to IR Out at opposite ends. For RS232, cross TX/RX and match baud rate and other serial settings.

06

Validate before fixing

Check Power, Status, Link and HDCP LEDs; then test video, audio, CEC, IR and RS232 before closing walls, ceilings or equipment racks.

If Link is off or blinking

Check total length and T568B termination, remove couplers/patch points, avoid flat cable and try a known-good category run. If Link is solid but video is absent, test both HDMI leads directly and set the source to 4K30, 4K60 4:2:0 8-bit or 1080p.

Questions, answered

Important buying and setup answers.

Can I connect the HDBT cable through a network switch?

No. Connect the transmitter directly to the receiver over a dedicated category cable. The RJ45-shaped HDBT ports are not Ethernet ports and must not be connected to a router, LAN switch, PoE switch or injector.

Does 4K60 mean full 4:4:4 colour?

No. On 4KEX70-L, 4K50/60 is limited to 4:2:0 8-bit within the HDMI 1.4 / 10.2Gbps design. Use a suitable HDMI 2.0 or 2.1 extender when 4K60 4:4:4, deeper colour or higher bandwidth is mandatory.

Is the maximum distance 70m for 4K?

No. With Cat6a or Cat7, use up to 40m for 4K@60Hz 4:2:0 or 70m for 1080p@60Hz. With Cat5e or Cat6, use up to 35m for 4K or 60m for 1080p.

Can I distribute one source to several displays?

No. The supplied transmitter and receiver form a one-to-one pair. Use an HDMI splitter before suitable extender links, a matrix, or an AV-over-IP system designed for several displays for multi-display distribution.

Does it support ARC or eARC from the television?

No. Embedded audio travels with the forward HDMI signal, but 4KEX70-L does not provide ARC/eARC audio return or a separate audio output.

Can it extend keyboard, mouse or other USB devices?

No. This is an HDMI/audio/control extender, not a USB or KVM extender. Select a KVM/USB model when remote peripherals are required.

Why is only one power adapter included?

The matched pair supports bidirectional power. Connect the supplied 18V/1A adapter at either TX or RX and the other unit is powered over the HDBT link.

Will IR work with a Bluetooth voice remote?

Only the infrared portion of a compatible 30–50kHz remote can be relayed. Bluetooth, RF and app-based commands are not converted to IR. Place the emitter directly over the controlled device’s IR sensor.

What should I check first when there is no picture?

Verify Power/Status/Link/HDCP indicators, test both HDMI leads directly, confirm the display input, and set the source to a supported mode. If Link is unstable, inspect cable length and T568B termination and remove patch points.

Can I use existing Cat5e cable?

Yes, up to 35m at 4K@60Hz 4:2:0 or 60m at 1080p@60Hz. Use Cat6a or Cat7 for the full 40m/70m range. Existing wiring should be tested with the actual source and display.
